Steller’s jay is classified as a member of Kingdom Animalia. These birds came under the phylum Chordata and class-specific to them is called Aves. Crows are members of the family Corvidae, order Passeriformes. It is a common bird of forests of the west side. These birds are frequently present in denser woody areas of mountains.
Dark colors of their body easily mix in shadows. These birds are small and handsome and it is named after a naturalist of Germany named Georg Steller. From a distance, these birds look like dark-colored birds. Their closer view shows that the head is darker in color and the color of the shoulder is having contrast with their body and tail which are deep blue.
Except in nests, they usually fly in groups and flocks. They live in most of the forests of pink oaks and at the riversides of oaks and other trees. In process of courtship, males usually feed females. While nestling, the adult birds are cool and calm. If their nest is in danger then they create noise. Nests are usually built in some shrubs or deciduous trees.
Their height of flight usually ranges 10 to 30 inches above the ground. Nests are built with the help of some weeds, dry leaves, twigs, fine grass, and needles of pine. Sometimes paper is also used for this purpose. These are the large bids with a solid head, rounded wings, a length full tail, and are known as songbirds.
Their bill is powerful, long, straight, and slightly hooked from one end. They have a crest of three sides which is straightly upward from their head. The color of the head is charcoal black and the body is blue. The wings have a sparkling bright blue color. White markings are there above the eyes.
